Lambeth London Living appoint Neil Litherland as Chief Executive

Neil Litherland came to Lambeth London Living in February 2011 as an Interim Chief Executive, at a time when its future was very much in doubt. Neil has put his considerable housing experience to use to lay the foundations for a strong future for housing in Lambeth.

Commenting on his appointment, Neil Litherland said:  “Lambeth London Living has been working really hard to get the basics right over the last two years. We now answer residents’ calls, we do a lot more repairs and we have started a £450m investment programme to improve our homes. As a result, our residents are happier with their services. There is still a lot more work to do to give Lambeth tenants one of the best services in London so I am delighted to have the chance to carry on”.

Neil Litherland has 28 years of professional experience in social housing. Born and bred in Manchester and graduating from its university with an economics degree, Neil started his career in Wigan. He picked up experience of front-line housing management as District Housing Manager at Kirklees before moving to Bolton as its Assistant Director of Housing Management.

Neil moved to London in 1995 as the Director of Housing in Camden and left as the borough’s Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Housing and Adult Social Care. During his time at Camden, Neil turned a failing housing service into one of the highest rated in the country and helped the council achieve the only ‘perfect score’ ever recorded in the national ratings for councils.

Keith Hill, Lambeth London Living Chairman said “The appointment of a permanent Chief Executive is a major step forward for Lambeth London Living and a sign of the stability and strength of the organisation. The Board is delighted that Neil Litherland has accepted the role”
