5 July: FREE dog collars and leads on offer at Streatham dog chipping event

Lambeth London Living in partnership with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home is hosting a FREE dog microchipping event in Streatham for its tenants, and the first 20 visitors will be rewarded with a free dog collar and lead.

The event will take place at 139 Albert Carr Gardens SW16, from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday, July 12. As well as a free microchipping service, tenants can also have their pet de-wormed and de-flead– all for free.

Keith Hill, Lambeth London Living chair said: “I would urge all of our dog owning tenants in Streatham to take advantage of this free service. It gives pet owners peace of mind knowing that if their beloved animal goes missing there is an extremely good chance they will be re-united.”

Lambeth London Living encourages responsible pet ownership and allows tenants to keep dogs as long as the pets are microchipped. They also have to wear a tag displaying their owners contact details, this is a legal requirement and owners could face a fine of up to £5k if they fail to meet these conditions.

Microchipping is a quick procedure and involves a small disc, the size of a rice grain, being placed under the animals’ skin.  It has a code – that is linked to the owner’s contact details held on a national database. If a dog goes missing, the chip can be scanned by dog wardens and animal welfare organisations, and the missing dog can be reunited with its owner.

This FREE event is open to Lambeth London Living tenants only, for more information contact the Albert Carr Gardens housing office on 020 7926 1910.
