21 August: Lambeth London Living tells eight apprentices ‘you’re hired’

Lambeth London Living is helping eight young people on their way to a brand new career in housing as they start a two year paid work placement.

The apprentices, who range in age from 18 to 26 years old, will take part in a varied programme and gain valuable experience across a range of housing disciplines.

It is a joint scheme with Lambeth College and will see the apprentices combine class based study with practical ‘on the job’ training.

Eighteen year old apprentice Jordan Campbell-Chambers is based in Lambeth London Living’s ‘head office’ in Brixton, working in the technical services department, he says; “This has been a really great opportunity for me as I get to work on site as well as learn in a classroom – I’m not just stuck on a class based course.

“It’s been really interesting, I’ve learned loads of new things and I really enjoy the ‘hands on’ work and getting out on site to help diagnose technical problems”.

Neil Litherland, Lambeth London Living interim chief executive said: “Hiring these young apprentices is a big deal for us – they’re keen and raring to go. They are exactly the kind of people that we want working for Lambeth London Living”.

Four more people are set to join the Lambeth London Living apprentice programme in the next few weeks.
