3 December 2023 Lambeth London Living offers help to residents struggling with rent over Christmas

Posters encouraging Lambeth London Living tenants to pay their rent over the festive season are now up on buses travelling through the borough.

Christmas is the time when most people struggle to make ends meet and rent payments are often missed with the pressures of buying presents.

A number of free debt surgeries are being held at Lambeth London Living offices for people to receive budgeting tips and advice from financial experts.

Chairman Keith Hill was out to launch the posters this week which have a simple message that reads ‘Pay your rent before it’s spent, we don’t want you to lose your home this Christmas’. He said: “The campaign is designed to prompt people into asking for help if they are struggling. If you are one of those people please contact us so we can help.”

Rent payments enable Lambeth London Living to improve homes and carry out repairs. With a large waiting list of people needing homes in Lambeth, it’s also unfair for people to live in properties without paying.

The free surgeries are being held at three Lambeth London Living area housing offices:

  • The North Lambeth surgeries are being held every Wednesday from 2 to 4pm at 91 Kennington Lane, London SE11 4HQ.
  • Brixton is every second Thursday from 1 to 4pm. The next is on December 16 at Olive Morris House, 18 Brixton Hill, London SW2 1RL.
  • Norwood is every second Friday from 2 to 4pm. The next is on December 17 at Cranfield Close, London SE27 9JT.

Anyone who wishes to make an appointment can book through an income officer by phoning 0800 088 0088.

The cost of the bus advertising is £5,500. Lambeth London Living believes that savings will be made with a reduction in the number of evictions.
