19 February 2024 Lambeth London Living on track to publish fire risk action plans

Lambeth London Living has announced plans to publish fire risk assessments (FRAs) for its 10 story-plus tower blocks on its website from the end of March 2010.

The FRAs were completed by December 2009 and not one received an overall classification of being high risk. Now a dedicated team at Lambeth London Living is analysing the technical information of each assessment with the view to produce “easy to read” reports and action plans for any work required. The aim is to have these documents online for residents to view the action plan for their block. Lambeth London Living will ensure those who don’t have internet access will be able to view the documents from local area offices.

Terry Gallagher, Lambeth London Living’s Director of Resources, says it’s about being transparent.

“We would like to reassure residents a lot of work is going on behind the scenes regarding fire safety in conjunction with the Fire Service. Fire risk assessments are designed to identify potential risks, but we want residents to know that any risk identified will be minimised through the action plan – which they will be able to see for themselves.”

But even with the specialised team working on the action plan, Terry Gallagher says it’s vital residents take measures to make themselves safer.

“We already have fire safety education programmes in place, but we’re again urging residents to take the fire safety message on board and clear all hazards from exit routes. We’re asking them to remove anything which is combustible or is preventing a safe escape.”

Lambeth London Living is on track to complete its other fire risk assessments by the required deadlines.
