From April under the Government’s Welfare Reform changes working age tenants on housing benefit with spare bedrooms face a reduction in their benefit claims.

Tenants under-occupying by one bedroom will lose 14 per cent of their total eligible rent whilst those under-occupying by two or more bedrooms will lose 25 per cent of their total eligible rent.

If you live in a property bigger than you need and are worried about the shortfall in your rent from April, you may want to swap your home under the Mutual exchange scheme.
