Growing Leaders programme

Capital Growth is repeating this successful programme to help people to set up and run a food growing space. Growing Leaders gives training and advice to help you develop the skills needed to manage a food growing space. This programme includes training worth £100 plus other assistance and is completely free for up to 10 people (see below on how to apply). 

Who is growing leaders for?

  • Anyone starting a community food growing space
  • Anyone who wants to develop their skills in running a food growing space
  • Anyone seeking a career in community food growing

Who is eligible to apply?

You can apply if you are: 

  • Over 16 years old
  • Commit to attend at least 6 sessions (these can be a mix of events, visits and training)
  • Have identified a suitable piece of land to set up a growing space or is already involved in a Capital Growth food growing space

You can also apply on behalf of someone else, as long as they are aware of the application and would like to be nominated.

Each growing leader will receive:

  • 5 training credits: Growing leaders will be able to pick their training from all the Capital Growth training programme.
  • Free attendance to our networking events
  • A welcome pack with seeds and useful information
  • One to one support: Growing leaders will be able to access one to one support which will include site visits, networking with other growing leaders and support via telephone and email.
  • Tour: Growing leaders will be able to visit other inspirational and successful community food growing spaces and meet other Growing Leaders. 
  • Funding: A chance to apply for costs/materials towards your project
  • Measuring kit: The option to receive our measuring kit which includes scales and forms
  • Certificate of participation

When will the programme take place?

Growing leaders will run from June to November 2023 with no activities during August. Interested applicants must fill out an application form and email it to paola@sustainweb.org by Monday May 20th 2023 at 5pm.
